Six Year Old on Digestion

About the Blog Title (Because You're Dying To Know)

One of my husband's all time favorite movies, and one he makes us all watch several times every Christmas, is The Family Man (2000) with Téa Leoni (Kate) and Nicolas Cage (Jack). The message is a twist on It's a Wonderful Life only this time the main character, Jack, appears to have it all - wealth and success, and is given a "glimpse" into what his life would have been like if he had chosen love and family instead.

During this "glimpse", before realizing what he has in having love and family, Jack questions Kate about how she could let him settle for mediocrity, and not encourage him to pursue his dreams of success.

At one point during an argument at the local mall, Kate is listing all the things she needs to buy for her kids including "Mary Janes" (shoes) for her daughter, but she scoffs at the expensive suit that Jack is trying on and considering purchasing.

Suddenly, Jack erupts and lists all of his frustrations with this mediocre version of his life and ends by asking Kate, "So what's in it for me? Wh-Where are my Mary Janes?"

Of course, as the movie progresses, Jack overcomes what he perceived as disappointment, made his life much more rich than literal wealth ever could.
